Paul is an Honours Arts Degree graduate in Geography & Economics, a qualified Geodetic Surveyor and Cartographer. Paul joined Jeff Howes Golf Design in 1997 and has over 10 years experience in golf course architecture.
As Project Architect & during his time at Jeff Howes Golf Design Paul’s inventory of projects is wide and varied. Paul’s work to date includes projects as small as 1-2 hole extensions right through to full 9 and 18 hole courses. Most notable would be the 9 hole extension to Fota Island Golf Resort (venue of Irish Open 2001/02), Cork and the Bunclody Golf & Fishing Club, Wexford, Ireland.
Paul regularly travels to play courses throughout Ireland, Scotland, England & Wales to study the classic courses of the “Golden Age” of Golf Course Architecture. It is from these study trips that Paul draws his inspiration and he endeavours to incorporate elements of this era’s wealth of design into his own creations.
Core to his role as a Project Architect, is to deliver a final product which is a realisation of the clients’ expectations, budget and schedule. It is also important for this architect to produce a course which is as neutral as possible in the manner in which it sits & operates within its own surrounding environment.
Paul’s current role within Jeff Howes Golf Design is that of Senior Design Associate with added responsibility for the production of the company’s 3D Visualisation Services.
