AUSTRIA – Golf Club Fohrenwald: Alterations to the 13th Hole

Last November saw works carried out on the 13th hole at Golf Club Fohrenwald home to the Austrian Ladies Open for the past number of years.

Newly redesigned & freshly sodded 13th Green – Golf Club Fohrenwald, Winer Neustadt, Austria.

This alteration is part of the continuing implementation of the MasterPlan Jeff Howes Golf Design drafted for the Club. Since its conception the MasterPlan improvements have resulted in the creation of 5 entirely new holes, the redesign of a further 4 greens, the introduction of fairway bunker complexes and a large lake which doubles as an irrigation reservoir.

When it opens for play in May 2012 we are confident the club members and the members of the LET (Ladies European Tour) will be very pleased with the results of the newly revamped 13th hole.

Happy Chinese Lunar New Year

Jeff Howes Golf Design would like to wish all our Clients, Suppliers & Friends across the globe a very Happy & Propserous Chinese Lunar New Year.

This year the is the “Year of the Dragon” and it is a considered by the Chineses as a very good year to have a child as the Dragon in Chinese culture signifies Power, Strength, Wealth & Success. We here at, Jeff Howes Golf Design, see this as a very good omen as our 1st golf course in China, “Liu Jiang International Golf Club” is due to open for play this year and we are sure that it will be a tremendous success.

2012 – Irish Open

Jeff Howes Golf Design are delighted with the news that The 2012 Irish Open is to be held at Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland.

It is great to see this European Tour event return to a “Links” course for which Ireland is known the world over for!

Credit is due to all involved particularly all the Irish players on tour who supported the move north.

Cannot wait to see this classic Colt course on TV – we hope the R&A strive to acheive the 2006 Royal Liverpool (Hoylake) appearance – Brown being the new Green!

(Click on the link below to access a video showing Tiger Woods win the 2006 Open Championship at a sun baked & brown Royal Liverpool on a score of 270 for 4 rounds without once hitting a bunker or his driver – Amazing!!!)

Galway Golf Club – Salthill, Galway, IRELAND

Work on the improved Practice Facilities at Galway Golf Club have been completed successfully by DAR Golf Construction Ltd to the satisfaction of the Club and the architect Jeff Howes. This complex of 3 pitching greens and new practice putting green will allow greater numbers to practice the short game at any one time and through clever design offers the player a wide variety of lies to practice lob, pitch & run, approach wedge and chip shots.
